Easy Place and placement restriction

Two build options help you build a locked placement by hand:

  • Easy Place: right-click a ghost and the planned block lands there, turned the way the plan has it.
  • Placement restriction: blocks that don’t match the plan are refused before they reach the world.

Both are off by default. They are your own settings, not part of a placement, and they stay as you set them after a restart. They work on any server, also on vanilla servers without Heavymatica.

Easy Place Options → Easy Place Toggle Easy Place, unbound [build] easyPlace
Placement restriction Options → Placement restriction Toggle placement restriction, unbound [build] placementRestriction
  • The Options sub-wheel offers both toggles while a locked placement is selected. A marked segment is on.
  • The keys have no default. Bind them in Options → Controls, in the Heavymatica category. A bound key works whenever no screen is open, also without the remote in your hand. See Keys.
  • You can also change them in the settings.

Each toggle shows Easy Place: on or Easy Place: off (or the same for placement restriction) in the action bar.

While either option is on and a locked placement is in your dimension, a small icon for each option that is on shows above your hotbar, Easy Place first. It shows whether or not you hold the remote, and hides while a screen is open.

With Easy Place on, hold the block a ghost needs and right-click the ghost. The planned block is placed at the ghost’s position with its planned facing, axis, slab half, hinge and the like. Where you aim on the ghost and which way you face don’t matter:

  • Stairs planned facing north and upside down are placed that way, even if you stand north of them facing south.
  • A log planned on its side is placed on its side, even if you click its top.
  • A top slab is placed as a top slab, wherever on the ghost you click. Click a bottom slab where a double slab is planned to complete it.
  • A wall torch is placed on the wall the plan has it on.

Your camera doesn’t move.

A right-click places through Easy Place when all of this holds:

  • Easy Place is on and no screen is open.
  • You are not in spectator mode.
  • The ghost under your crosshair is within your normal reach and is missing or not complete yet.
  • Your main hand holds an item for that ghost: its own item, or an item that the game turns into it, such as dirt for a grass block. The remote never counts.

Every other right-click behaves as without Easy Place. Holding cobblestone and clicking an oak stairs ghost places cobblestone the normal way. A block that already matches the plan is never a ghost target, so clicking it does what it always does.

Hold the use key to place again and again at the normal repeat rate. Sweep the crosshair along a row of ghosts to fill it.

Easy Place works the same whether you sneak or not: a sneaking right-click on a ghost with the right item still places the planned block. When a block needs a sneak click to come out as planned, for example a chest next to another chest that the plan keeps single, Easy Place sends that one click as sneaking for you and your real sneak state right after.

Some blocks take two steps: first the base, then what goes into it. Place the flower pot, cake or cauldron first. Then right-click it with the plant, candle or bucket the plan asks for, and Easy Place puts it in. The wrong plant is not an Easy Place click.

Easy Place places chests so they connect as planned. A single chest next to a chest with the same facing stays single when the plan has it single. To build a double chest, place one half, then click the ghost of the other half and the two connect.

  • Open or closed: doors, trapdoors and fence gates are placed the way the game places them. If the plan has them open, the comparison shows them as turned the wrong way until you open them.
  • Settings the game decides: a repeater planned with a delay of 3 is placed with the planned facing and a delay of 1. The comparison shows it as needing finishing until you set it.

Easy Place follows the game’s rules. A block that needs support is only placed where it can stay. When no click could place the planned block as planned, for example a wall torch with nothing behind it, nothing is placed and the action bar says Easy Place can't place Wall Torch here.

If the server refuses a placement, for example in a protected area, the world shows what the server says and you don’t lose the item.

With placement restriction on, a block you place inside a locked placement’s visible layers is refused when it would be wrong there. Nothing is sent to the server and you keep the item. The action bar names the planned block, for example Placement restriction: the plan has Oak Planks here, or says the plan has air there.

A placement is refused when the result would be:

  • the wrong block, such as cobblestone where oak planks are planned
  • a block where the plan has air
  • turned the wrong way, such as stairs facing south where they should face north
  • too many, such as a third candle where two are planned

It is allowed when the result matches, is a step toward the planned block, or only needs finishing:

  • the planned block itself
  • a block the game turns into it, such as dirt where a grass block is planned
  • a bottom slab where a double slab is planned
  • a repeater with the right facing but a different delay

Heavymatica judges the block as the game would place it from your click: the face you click, where on it you aim and which way you face. With a top slab planned, clicking the upper half of a block’s side places the slab; clicking the top of the block below is refused, because that would make a bottom slab.

Only positions in locked placements in your dimension, and only in the layers they show, are restricted. Building outside a placement, in hidden layers, or inside a following or anchored placement works as usual. Scaffolding in a hidden layer is fine. When two locked placements overlap, the selected one decides.

  • Using blocks: right-clicking a chest, door, lever or button still uses it. Sneak if you want to place a block against it; that click is judged.
  • Items that don’t place blocks: buckets and other items work as usual. You can still empty a water bucket inside the build.
  • Two-step blocks: putting a plant into a flower pot, a candle onto a cake or a bucket into a cauldron is judged. The planned plant goes in; a different plant is refused, and so is any plant in a pot the plan has empty.
  • Open or closed: a door, trapdoor or fence gate is never refused only for being open or closed.
  • Chests: a chest the game would connect where the plan keeps it single is refused. Sneak while placing it to keep it single. A single chest where half of a double chest is planned is allowed.

Easy Place clicks are never refused, since they place the planned block. Other right-clicks are judged as usual. With both on, clicking an oak stairs ghost with cobblestone places nothing and the action bar names oak stairs.
